Diary:
April to June
19/4/00: Heading to Scotland to
spend time with my parents and to finalize all the paper work.
30/4/00: Progress report -
Scotland
- Have replaced all the lock
barrels on the Landy, so now I only need one key to open the doors,
there was a bit of a mismatch of keys which made things very
confusing.
- Put new hasp & staple on rear
door, and fitted security grid to rear window, so all 5 rear windows
now have security grids. (don't forget the 2 small ones at the rear)
- Fitted a cassette player, so I
can play my short wave radio through the car stereo via a cassette
adaptor. (thanks for the radio Bob)
Still to do:
- Fit spare wheel carrier to back
of Landy. (Richard, the previous owner advised me that the door is
likely to fall off if she has to do another trip with the spare
wheel bolted to the door, and I'm inclined to agree)
- Fit heavy duty shocks and
springs to the rear. (Also on the advice of Richard)
- Fit Polybushes all round
- And the major task is to fit an
extra fuel tank below the rear floor. Due to the limited space
available in a 90" I felt that if I could reduce the amount of
jerry cans I'm carrying this would give me more load space in the
back.
- I'm probably also going to get
a new clutch fitted, as I'm sure the current one is one it's last
legs.
12/05/00
- Have changed all the prop shaft universal joints, and fitted new wheel
bearings where required.
- Spare wheel carrier for rear wheel is now fitted.
- Have made and fitted a fold down table for the rear door, which should
come in useful, or so I've been told!
- Changed all fluids for engine, axels, gearbox(s) radiators e.t.c and
fitted new filters where nessecary.
- Have fitted some lash down points in the rear to secure all my gear.
- The heavy duty shocks, springs, polybushes and new clutch have arrived,
but my parents have left me house sitting for a while whilst they go on
holiday, and I'm left with Maggie as my only transport, so major
jobs that could leave me without transport have had to be put on hold for
a while. - Paperwork side of things is going ok. Carnet, Visas e.t.c are well in hand.
- I've also been spending a small fortune on spare parts, tools and various
bits of equipment, but I think I'm pretty well sorted now for kit.
05/06/00
- Spent some time enjoying Northern Scotland. Here are a few
photos from the trip:
